I am Tristan, I am building a 400 SF cabin at the back of my house. I plan on doing it all by myself. I plan on sharing this journey here on UA-cam where I will show you every step of the way, all the struggles I run into and everything I will learn from this experience. I will then rent the cabin as a short term rental in hope of covering most, if not, all my house mortgage (House Hacking). Follow me here as this will absolutely be one of a kind journey.

What do you charge the Metabo too? 200psi? Does it have an auto shut off/auto start? The nailer only needs about 75psi so charging to 200psi may be unnecessary. What do you do?

    • @TheDIYCabinGuy

Automatically charges to 200, it needs to be that high so that it doesn’t have to run constantly every time you fire a nail

As a retired design/construction engineer you did a great job. No overkill at all. After I retired and became a farmer again I love to get down in the dirt and build things by hand. It’s not necessarily about whether it’s overkill or not, sometimes it’s just about the satisfaction of doing something in the best way possible and doing it well enough that future generations will get to enjoy the fruit of your labor. Congratulations.

Pulleys and come-alongs are your friend. I install larger beams than in the video by myself with no grunting or hernias. Moving beams on the ground using dollies and pipes to roll beams around.

What would you have attached the pulley to in this situation ?

Great video, perfect amount of detail while not taking too long on any one area. I'm curious how well this might work but with a little more height. I plan to do something similar, but we can get pretty deep snowfall here, I'd like to keep the first floor above the snow pack. Would something like this work with say a 6' high post on each pier? Just have the bracing start low?

That's skoogum as frick but the braces seem unnecessary since the bottom is held by piers, and the top held together by the beams, and beams held by joists. You'd have to be like 12 tons to make that thing wobble without the braces. Not sure how big your GF is.

Just curious, why the nails between the subfloor? Is that to let it breathe. If so, it tongue and groove bad for subfloors?
